Best of Kansas City
“Best” is such a subjective word. Are the businesses recognized in this annual “Best of Business” edition of Ingram’s really the best businesses in Kansas City in their respective categories? Could be. Good enough for Ingram’s readers to say they’re the best. And Ingram’s readers are—if we do say so ourselves—an intelligent, informed, and discerning bunch. When they say a restaurant or a law firm or a florist is the best, you can trust the recommendation. But is it really the “best”?
The real value of Ingram’s annual “Best of Business” awards is not that it identifies with absolute certainty the very best businesses in their categories, but that it provides Ingram’s readers an opportunity to think about the businesses with whom they interact on a daily basis and to consider the quality of the products and services those businesses provide.
Thinking about quality is important. Asking yourself which businesses you like best in any given category requires that you contemplate the reasons why you’re especially satisfied with a specific product or service. What are the characteristics that make that product so enjoyable, reliable, attractive, easy to use, innovative, pleasing? What is it that makes you want to use it again and again? When you think about these things, it compels you to think about the products and services your own company offers. Do your company’s products and services measure up?
Ingram’s “Best of Business Kansas City” awards identifies companies throughout the greater metro KC region that consistently offer products and services of the highest quality, setting standards all of us should strive to achieve.
