Consider: since 1994, the company has gone from two employees to nearly 1,000; from a $4 million venture to a company with a market capitalization of more than $1 billion. Now consider that, as of last year, they are the first and only company providing ATM outsourcing services in China, which joins clients in more than 80 other countries. Of course, financial success is rewarding, but President and COO Dan Henry sees the company serving the greater good, playing a role in developing the financial infrastructure of emerging markets.

![]() | etelligent consultingGross Revenue: 2005: $1,207,789 2002: $182,501 Growth 561.80% Full-time employees: 21Jim Starcev and Mark Calhoun started this company in 2000 with $6,000. Now employing 21 with revenues of more than $1 million, Starcev says they’ve revamped their business plan “about six or seven times.” Originally they saw a need to provide technical consulting to individual financial service companies. As they listened to their customers, however, they realized there was a need to provide portfolio performance reporting as well. So they developed software and created a Web interface that allowed clients to produce performance reports, which attracted national clientele. Even with no advertising to speak of (the company exhibits at two annual conferences), Etelligent has a waiting list of three months.
