| Industry Outlook – Accounting & Business ConsultingAccountants and Consultants Adapt Well to Change
Five years ago this July, Congress passed the Sarbanes-Oxley act and the world of corporate governance has not been the same since. (See accompanying article on page 89 for background on Sarbanes-Oxley). On June 29, a dozen of the area’s accounting and business consultancy industry leaders, representing a variety of interdependent functions, met at Ingram’s offices in the Freighthouse District of Kansas City to discuss the changes and challenges of the last five years. The assembly was part of Ingram’s widely read and highly praised Industry Outlook series. Sponsoring the assembly was RubinBrown Accounting and Business Consulting, whose representatives, Todd Pleimann and Cathy Behnen, capably chaired the event. The participants not only explored the changed environment, but they also offered some highly useful insights into the nature of the change. The overall mood of the assembly was forward looking and upbeat. Although fully aware of the challenges they face, participants did not shy from tackling them head on.
