Ingram's Magazine Honors Kansas City's 2005 Top Doctors
Each year, for the past seven years , Ingram’s has selected several area physicians as Kansas City’s Top Doctors. We have not done so alone, instead relying on the recommendations of Top Doctors alumni, other area physicians, hospital administrators and healthcare professionals to form the pool from which to choose. Each year, the choices get tougher, as this program becomes more respected and more nominations pour in. The 13 doctors selected this year represent a broad spectrum of specialties and backgrounds—they join an elite class of physiciand known as Ingram’s first 100 Top Doctors.
As is often the case when writing an important article, Ingram’s contributing editor Chris Becicka found the toughest part of her job with the profiles for the 2005 class of Top Doctors being condensing their achievements and qualifications into a few hundred words.
These Top Doctors shared many concerns, including seeing as many patients as possible, yet spending the necessary amount of time with each one; diminishing health insurance that corresponds to growing health insurance requirements; and the general conviction that family and friends sometimes are lost to the greater cause of medicine.
They also share a passion for what they do. They put in tremendously long hours, not only seeing patients but keeping up to date within their chosen specialty. Yet none of them expressed an interest in changing fields or any regret for choosing medicine. In fact, they all say they love their jobs and most will tell you they’re lucky to be doing what they love.
These doctors all talked about listening to and caring for their patients. They also talked about the fact that without their staffs and colleagues they would not have a chance to be mentioned on this prestigious list. Congratulations to our 2005 Top Doctors—they’re certainly among some terrific and accomplished company.
