The process seems to
get tougher each year!
If we’d only had the foresight to call it “100 Under Forty” our jobs would have been so much easier. Each year, we explore hundreds of letters of recommendation, resumes and nomination forms and conduct extensive research to select just 40 to represent the brightest and best of Kansas City’s youthful leaders. This year was no different.
We landed on the list you will see presented in the following pages, but it would be hard to argue that another group of 40, or even 60, could not represent the class of 2005 equally well.
We chose these individuals for a number of reasons. They’ve achieved great success, shown leadership, generosity, courage, foresight, devotion and an endless list of positive attributes that should give us all hope for a bright future. As our 40 Under Forty honorees and alums begin to field the chairs of the “Power Elite,” our city’s future will be in good hands.
We also know that our 20-county area is very fertile. Every year, a new set of nominations comes in and challenges us in the selection process. Each year, we think, “We’ve finally hit the end of the list,” only to be re-assured that there is a steady flow of exceptional young leaders emerging.
Next year we’ll get to know many more great applicants still. If you know of a solid 40 Under Forty candidate, please make sure that we do as well. Enjoy getting to know this year’s class of Ingram’s 40 Under Forty.
