Platte County's widely praised quality of life owes much to its equally high-quality educational systems, including both public and private programs.

All of Platte County's public school districts have achieved Missouri's "Accredited with Distinction," which recognizes districts that have met or exceeded rigorous performance standards in academics achievement, reading achievement, career preparation and educational persistence. Platte County is the only one in the state with that distinction. In 2001, the organization "Kids Count" ranked Platte County as the number one county in the state of Missouri to raise children.

The Park Hill School District serves the more populated, southern half of the area. The largest district in terms of student population, Park Hill this year has a total of almost 9,500 students. The district now has two high schools, two middle schools, a sixth grade center and nine elementary schools. These and other centers offer a broad range of traditional and progressive programs in academics, the arts and athletics.

Three other Platte-based districts serve the remainder of Platte County, along with small portions of two districts in neighboring clay and Buchanan counties. The three "local" districts, Platte City, West Platte and North Platte, are smaller than Park Hill but have achieved the same recognized levels of quality.

The Platte City R-III District has just fewer than 2,500 students. Its largest facility is the high school in Platte City, which is located on a campus with the Northland career Center, which is operated by the district but open to students from throughout Platte County. Platte County R-III also has four elementary schools, and a middle school. Both the North Platte County R-I District and the West Platte R-II District serve approximately 700 students each.

Platte County parents also have a range of private/parochial schools to consider. These include the Clay-Platte Children's House Montessori School for students from preschool to grade eight. Also in Platte County is the Life Christian Academy that serves students Kindergarten through grade 8. St. Therese's North serves students in Kindergarten through grade 8.
