Readers Letters Thinking Locally and Regionally I wish to express my gratitude to Ingram's for the kind story in the December issue. I applaud your insight and leadership in reaching out regionally in your excellent publication. Thinking and acting locally and regionally is a critical strategy for business and communities in the 21st Century. Bob Bush Maryville, Missouri
We appreciate the relationship that we have developed over the last couple of years. I am looking forward to renewed successes in real estate and in moving our city forward positively in 2003 and beyond. I'm sure that Ingram's and its staff will be an integral part of that process. Kenneth G. Block
What a great column Jack (Cashill). You made me cry. I never knew much about your background, but you really shared yourself in your December column. Interesting, isn't it how our cynicism and defensiveness can be generated at such an early age, and then just keep cropping up for decades. And I was so glad to read that you and your brother no longer quarrel. Now, if you and Mary could just patch things up. Tracy Thomas, Shawnee, Kansas
I have received the December issue of Ingram's magazine which included a seperate section noted as "Faces of Philanthropy." In that section you have spotlighted the programs and results of many not-for-profit organizations. I particularly appreciate your high- lighting the Children's Scholarship Fund of Kansas City. I believe that you are aware that every dollar raised in this area is matched by a program initiated by John Walton and Ted Forstmann. The program provides opportunities for economically disadvantaged children to attend a private school. Your generosity in this manner is very much appreciated. William H. Dunn, Sr.
Thank you! I want to voice my thanks and that of everyone at the Britain Center for the coverage that Cathy and Dan Nugent and Ingram's provided in your December issue. It was a wonderful holiday gift for our families and their children, especially with a story told so well by Ms. Nugent. Know that we are also very grateful for your support of the Tiny Tim Holiday Fantasy. Louis J. Gehring, Fund Development Executive
On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff and students of DeLaSalle Education Center, thank you for your dedication to our community! Ingram's Faces of Philanthropy section in your December edition is a wonderful tribute to the thousands of not-for-profit agencies in Kansas City. Your special features and profiles of various agencies help to highlight some of the crucial work being done throughout the area. DeLaSalle was fortunate to be supported by Phil Orscheln and the good people of Orscheln Industries who made it possible to highlight our organization in this year's Ingram's Philanthropy edition. And we have already received responses from your readers. In fact one man recently wrote to us, "I read about the Center in Ingram's magazine and I was impressed with the services being provided". This individual reached out to us in support without any request on our part. Others in the industry know well that this is a very rare phenomenon. I look forward to reading more about not-for-profit agencies in Ingram's. It is a great medium to connect service providers with their supporters. Keep up the good work! Vanessa Van Goethem, |
