Reader's Letters Responding to Community Need I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated Joe Sweeney's first person account of Sunday, May 4th in his Editor's Note column titled "Tornado Alley." The Sweeneys activities demonstrate the very best of all those who are willing to assist in times of crisis. Red Cross volunteers do this on a daily basis, while others respond as the need arises. All are important to ensuring that lives are saved and people receive assistance with food, clothing, and shelter. Those who choose to respond, whether daily or as needed, are the unsung heroes during times of disaster. Thank you. Matthew D. Meyer, Between the Lines Great Between the Lines [Jack Cashill Ingram's, May '03]. As a pilot for 33 years I have flown many of the different Boeing A/C, all with a center tank, many times empty, with the pumps running, and guess what, nothing happened. Even after the TWA incident when the FAA required checks of the wiring in all Boeing A/C, even when insulation was found missing from wires, even with empty tanks, guess what, nothing happened. None of the pilots or maintenance persons I ever talked with believed that tank explosion was caused by faulty wiring shorting out because the pumps were on with an empty tank. Getting people to listen is another story. I have been attempting to get the ear of our City Council to listen to reason about zoning issues and I get no reply. I am tenacious however and with a new council, who knows. Henry Rankin A Valued Resource A couple of weeks ago I received the May edition of Ingram's along with your 2003 Book of Leads & Lists--what a tremendous package of insight and well-researched information. As the economy continues to challenge us all and we fight to tread water in these interesting times, I commend all that Ingram's Magazine and your team does to keep your readers informed and armed with invaluable business resources. I'm a student of regional media and have to say the Kansas City area is very fortunate to have Ingram's serve our community. Keep up the great work in KC. James Wilson Keep it up Ingram's I admire what Joe and Michelle Sweeney have done with Ingram's because it's entrepreneurial, it's obviously their passion and it's good for Kansas City. Ingram's takes a deep dive into the Kansas City business and leadership community and provides focused forums for topics that need attention. We appreciate the forum for recognizing young leaders (Forty Under 40) and the visibility it provides. I fall back on Teddy Roosevelt's quote that it's those in the arena with blood and sweat splattered on them who are worthy of praise, not the second guessers who sit passively by. Keep it up, Ingram's!! Tim Webster, President Appreciate the Good Press The profile on Saint Mary College is super. I truly appreciate all the "good press" Ingram's has given our Sisters of Charity, Leavenworth ministries. I'll get back in touch on reprints and inclusion in the Corporate Kansas City publication.
