Building and ConstructionBuilders Gear Up For Good Year Leaders in the building and construction trade do this only once a year. They convene with the interdependent entities that make up their business and hash out the challenges that they individually and collectively face. Ingram’s Magazine is honored to be the organization that pulls them all together. This year, Ingram’s Industry Outlook assembly unfolded Friday, February 24 at the Burns & McDonnell world headquarters on Ward Parkway. Chairing the event were Greg Graves, CEO of Burns & McDonnell, and Terry Dunn, CEO of J.E. Dunn Construction. Dunn, by the way, chaired the first-ever Industry Outlook assembly on Building and Construction, which was the first of any kind. This year’s was the fifth. Co-sponsoring the event were Burns & McDonnell and the Lockton Companies, ably represented by Grover Simpson and Patrick Pribyl. In attendance too was Kansas City, Missouri City Manager Wayne Cauthen, as well as an impressive array of top executives from the engineering, architecture, construction, labor, legal, insurance and government fields. The event distinguished itself for the high level of critical information that was exchanged freely. Quality People As a first question, attendees were asked to cite the most pressing challenge facing the construction industry in Kansas City. There was not quite a consensus on the answer, but nearly one. |
