Dear Friends,
Ingram's Magazine is on the threshold of its 4th decade. In this time of Thanksgiving we want our subscribers and advertisers to know how much we appreciate your support and encouragement. could not have prospered without a consistent supply of both.
Thirty years is a long time, particularly in the publishing business, and many exciting things have happened, even since we took over the reins here nearly eight years ago.
Perhaps most heartening for us is the emergence of Ingram's as the unifying media voice for community and economic development in the greater metropolitan area. Through our Industry Outlook series and our Economic Development series we have been able to expose to one another and to the public at large the interdependent drivers in the development arena.
In 2004, these two series will culminate in larger, more diverse and purposeful assemblies. The special reports that emerge from these assemblies will help the city shine. These reports will complement the work of those professionals striving to bring business to Kansas City and shed light on their exceptional progress.
The smart and unrelenting work of the area's development community has paid off time and again for the citizens of this area, and all too often it has gone unrecognized. Those interested in the progress made and the plans afoot should check out this issue's Industry Outlook on banking and finance. You will see that the financial community does far more for the region than manage your assets.
Next year too, in addition to our monthly issues, we will release the 2004-2005 edition of Destination KC and the 2004-2005 Greater Kansas City Economic Development Report as well as several other useful special publications. To help us handle the increased flow, Ingram's will be moving to a new facility, which, you can be sure, will remain in KC's urban core. In addition, our staff and associates will be deeply involved in the Harry S. Truman Statue Campaign. I am honored, in fact, to have been named co-chair of this campaign along with my good friend Mayor Lori Hirons of the City of Roeland Park and Citi Cards. I am quite sure, it will result in an impressive memorial of the late President Truman high atop the pedestal that stands in front of Union Station.
Our plans for 2004 will be unveiled in the December edition of . We encourage organizations and their leaders to join us in a collective effort to take the Kansas City metro area to the next level. You can help accomplish this by joining us in the cause and putting Ingram's on your media plan. We never take your support for granted and are always appreciative when we receive it.
Here's to a great holiday season and a bright and healthy future working together.
Sincerly,
Editor-In-Chief & Publisher jsweeney@ingramsonline.com
