Timing is Everything !!
Yesterday afternoon I had two new developers in my office discussing our area; when in walked the UPS man delivering the box of "Ingram's". The developers were truly impressed with the Johnson County (Missouri) coverage. Thank you very much.

When I get my copy of Ingram's I flip through it. As a creative type I'm thinking more about the latest fonts than future economics, still I manage to glean what is going on around me.
I enjoy Jack Cashill's column. I find that he makes very valid points. I hate playing party lines and saying the media is all liberal biasedand the conservative commentator is on mark. When I read lines pointing out that the "outrage" caused by over-riding the right to carry vetoit just makes me smile. Keep up the good work!

Star Struck
Jack Cashill's "Save the KC Star" [Oct., '03] obviously struck a nerve. The letters were so abundant that we're limited to publish only excerpts from a representative sample.
While I consider myself in the "zone of decency" I enjoyed your article and couldn't agree with you more. Keep up the good work!

Jack Cashill's . . . piece on The Star, was terrific! Thanks for providing such a fine publication for us locals here in KC.

How about this for "elitism" from the journalistically-trained content-controllers for the STAR. When the head of the emergency room at NKC, a senior M.D., writes a letter to the paper complaining about malpractice abuse in Missouri, it appears under the heading "As I See It"... If a STAR journalist had written an article expressing a liberal view on medical malpractice, the inference then, Jack, is that they know MORE THAN THE DOCTOR about this situation. The journalist has no formal medical training AT ALL. Ludicrous.

Personally, I'm a "zone of decency" guy by birth, but through years of education and experience, have come to believe that the business people in this country are generally smarter, harder-working, more reasonable, more educated, better listeners than the "zone of decency" journalism-school crowd . . . That's probably why the only department at the STAR I would feel comfortable working in is the circulation department.

THANKS for your article on The Star in Ingram's. I so appreciated your comment that "democratic legislators don't override their own governor's veto without enormous public support." Couldn't have said it better. (waaaaaay outside the zone!)
State Rep. Susan Phillips
Amazes me the way the Star and many of liberal ideologies attack supposed business monopolies (phone company, utilities, Microsoft, etc) but think its fine to have one newspaper that only presents (as fact) one side of each issue. Well done. Well written. Certainly wish we were a two paper town. Keep up the good work.

Jack: I read your "Save the KC Star" piece. You are right on the mark. Too bad the people who need it the most will likely ignore your observations. Keep up the good work. I enjoy Ingram's.
Doug Mays Speaker, House of Representatives, Kan.
Bravo for your column in Ingram's October issue. There are many of us who can't say publicly what we feel about the Star, such as myself, because I can't jeopardize the company I work for in fear they would take retaliation.

Just read your article regarding the K.C. Star. I applaud your thoughts and have noted upon returning to K.C. after being away from the community for 2 years, the narrow positions the Star proclaims. Keep up the good work and maybe Ingram's can acquire the paper at some future date ?????

I enjoyed your article concerning The Star. I too am tired of their narrow zone of decency. Go get'em Jack!
